    Hiya ... do you know if there are rammed earth structures in Sri Lanka ....for example the dam / tank wall at Tissa? or the forts at Galle / Colombo etc.
    ?

    I think most of the old tank berms are basically a type of rammed earth structures. Of modern dams Randenigala Dam across Mahaveli river is earth filled (or what you call a gravity ) dam. but of course the techniques and material usage for a dam and a building would be totally different.
