Hindu statues from the Polonnaruwa era are found in the numerous Hindu temples (kovils) within the ancient city, built by the Cholas and later maintained by Sinhalese rulers. Notable examples include the Siva and Ganesh Kovils, featuring restored foundations and statues, and the exceptionally well-preserved bronze statues discovered at Siva Devale No. 1, which depict deities like Siva, Parvati, and the dancing Siva.
