1. Mourinho has been given a two-match touchline ban and WOULD HAVE HAD to sit in the stands with a minder anyway.
   
   Here we are talking about the "future in the past".
   
   At the time the speaker is talking, Mourhino had already received the ban (past). He knew then that for the next match (future, when he got the ban) he would have to sit in the stands.
   
   Two weeks ago Mourhino got a ban. (past) Two weeks ago (past) he knew that in one week's time, (future) he would have to sit on the bench
   
   
2. I realized I'D HAD it in my pocket all along.
   
   This is the past perfect form of "have". We use this when we are talking about the past and want to refer to a time in the past which was even earlier.
   
   So - "I realised" - past simple of 'realise' - (a short event which I now finished.)
   
   "I had had it" - the thing was in my pocket even before I realised that it was there.
   
   We could demonstrate this by putting times in, to give you an idea of the time line:
   
   "At 4 pm I realised that I had put the thing in my pocket at 2 pm." I am telling you about something that happened at 4 pm (I realised), and the thing that I realised had happened even earlier, at 2 pm (I had had it ...)
   
   
3. I HAVE HAD the opportunity to interact with teachers" This is the simple perfect continuous (progressive), and we use it to speak about a finished action in the past, which is connecetd to the present.
   
   This is connected with the present, because presumably the speaker learned a lot about teachers, and he still has that knowledge:
   
   In the past I have had French lessons (past) and I can speak some French (present.)

Blogger now offers you the ability to view blogs in several new ways. They are Flipcard (tryout recent, date lable and author tabs under this option, they are cool), Mosaic, Sidebar, Snapshot, and Timeslide.

To view these dynamic views all you have to do is add /view to the end of the URL. For example for this blog type view to the end of the URL; http://sevenby3.blogspot.com/view or you can simply try them out for this blog by clicking the 5 links above.

A button on the RHS of the title bar should give you the option of selecting one of the 5 above mentioned views. Here is a screen shot of the Mosaic view. This is bit like Flicriver, you keep scrolling down and the page will add more images / posts automatically.

new layout

Dear All,

You may have noticed a few recent changes on the blog layout, especially the new 3 columns layout (thanks architectonics for noticing it). Those who are conversant with blogging may know that Blog Spot does not provide 3 column layouts, so I had to work it out myself with the help of few other bloggers’ info on the web.

Hope this will be the end of this upgrading exercise. So now it has 3 columns (one dedicated column for current issues), a new logo and some other minor modifications.

trying-out sinhala language blogging (#1)

Actually I wanted to read some sinhala blogs and had to go through the process of installing sinhala fonts (correctly). So I thought that I might have a go at typing a few words in sinhala at the same time. So here is process for your information. Actually it is easier than you might think. (මේක සිංහලෙන් බ්ලොග් එක ලියන්න කරන අත් හදා බැලිමක්. සිංහලෙන් කියවන්න ඔනේ නම් මේ විදියට සිංහල ෆොන්ට් ඉන්ස්ටොල් කරගෙන කියවන්න පුලුවන්. )
To install sinhala fonts /scripts correctly;(සිංහල ෆොන්ට් ඉන්ස්ටොල් කර ගන්න විදිය.)
